Greece Golden Visa: Family Members and Documents

One of the reasons families choose Greece is that a single qualifying investment can cover a wide household. The other side of that advantage is paperwork volume. Here is who can be included and which documents I ask families to start collecting early, based on BRIDGES programme descriptions (checked 15 Oct 2026).
Who can be included
On the same investment, residence permits can be issued to:
- the main investor;
- the spouse;
- unmarried children under 21 (including, in BRIDGES case practice, adoptive children treated on equal terms when the legal link is documented);
- the parents of the applicant and the parents of the spouse.
New family members can be added after the status is granted, with their own document packs. That matters for a newborn or a later marriage.
What happens at 21
The child’s permit under the investor route does not simply continue forever as a dependent after 21. BRIDGES notes that after 21 the status is renewed on other grounds (study, work, their own investment, and so on). I plan that transition early so the family does not face a gap in lawful stay.
Document themes for every adult
Exact ministry checklists change, but the recurring blocks are:
- Identity and civil status: passport, marriage certificate, birth certificates, family composition proof, with apostille (or equivalent legalisation) and certified Greek translation where required.
- Police clearance for adults, issued recently enough to still be valid on filing day.
- Medical insurance covering each person on the application (BRIDGES cites about €300 per person as a planning figure).
- Proof of the investment and of the lawful source of funds for the money that paid for it.
- Power of attorney if a lawyer completes steps in Greece without the whole family present for every appointment.
Children need civil status documents and insurance; they usually do not need police certificates in the same way adults do, but we follow the current checklist rather than habit.

Source of funds: where files stall
The property contract is not enough. Banks and migration reviewers want a readable trail: sale of assets, dividends, salary savings, gift deed, inheritance. Gifted funds (for example a grandparent funding a student applicant) can work when the gift is documented and the donor’s source is also clear. BRIDGES has published case patterns on that structure; I still treat each gift as a compliance file of its own.
For applicants with Russian or Belarusian passports, BRIDGES states the programme itself has no nationality ban. The friction is banking compliance and proving the source of funds. We test that path before any reservation fee.
Practical packing order
I ask families to gather civil status and police certificates while we still shortlist property. Certificates expire. Couples who leave apostilles until after the notary date often add four to eight idle weeks to the calendar described in the application process.
